I will not retrench workers if re-elected - Kwara State Gov

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has given an assurance that his government will not retrench workers despite the dwindling federal allocation if re elected.
The Governor made this promise while addressing workers at an interactive forum jointly organised by Trade Union Congress and Nigerian Labour Congress.
Workers of different cadre had filled the Teachers’ Hall to listen to the Governor especially on what he would do for workers if re-elected.

Answering questions on whether his government would sack workers or demote them based on the dwindling federal revenue, the Governor noted that reducing the staff strength is not the solution but proper planning of the economy.
He added that his government would give serious attention to managing the resources of the state to provide the needs of the people.
He also promised that the state’s fund would continue to be used judiciously for the betterment of the state.
Ahmed also called for collaboration between the three tiers of government for the benefit of the people.
At the end of the interactive forum, some of the participants aired their views on the presentations of the Governor. Many described the session as an eye opener.
