Mrs Jonathan in control of the police in Rivers state – Gov. Amaechi

The Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi said Mrs. Jonathan is in control of Rivers state police. He made the allegation while receiving the special representatives of the UN Secretary-General led by Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas in his office in Rivers state yesterday March 25th.

“Members of APC have been crying out loud to the country and the world. In Rivers State, the wife of the President, who is from Rivers State has taken over the control of the Police Force. On Tuesday night, the Commissioner of Police attempted to arrest a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the reason for doing that is to ensure that APC members don’t come out on election day.

I No Longer See Patience Jonathan As The First Lady – Soyinka

Nobel laureate ,Wole Soyinka has announced that he no longer sees Dame Patience Jonathan as Nigeria’s first lady; According to The Cable. Soyinka made the comment after listening to the first lady’s outburst during campaign rallies organised by the Peoples Democratic Party.

She had been quoted as saying Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC is brain dead and urging supporters to stone anybody that preaches ‘Change’.
In his reaction, Soyinka told DW, a German radio station, “What she said was totally unacceptable. I no longer regard her as the first lady of Nigeria”.

Nigeria Reportedly Pays Chadian & Nigerien Soldiers N146 Million Monthly to Fight Boko Haram

According to Punch, Nigeria pays the troops from Chad and Niger N146.25 million as pocket money and feeding allowances. The amount however does not include money for fueling of the operational vehicles of the foreign troops and other logistics.

The report further states that “a breakdown of the N146.25 million shows that the 2,500 troops contributed by Chad receive N112.5 million monthly while the 750 soldiers from Niger get N33.75 million. Thus each of the soldiers from the two countries gets N45,000 monthly as pocket and feeding allowances, the same amounts paid their Nigerian counterparts.”

Obasanjo uncovers plot to hand over to military should Jonathan lose

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Tuesday, disclosed that he has uncovered another plot by the Presidency to handover to the Nigerian military if it loses the coming Presidential election. Obasanjo said this alleged plot would undermine the integrity of Nigeria among the comity of nations.

The former President stated this yesterday while playing host to the South West women of the All Progressives Congress led by the wife of the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, Hajia Aisha Buhari.

Court Sentences Man To Death For Stealing Handset, N10,000

A man allegedly robbed his victims of a mobile telephone and N10, 000 cash while armed with a gun, a 24-year-old man was on Monday sentenced to death by hanging by a Delta High Court at Akwukwu-Igbo, Oshimili North Local Council.

The convict, Vincent Okwekwu, was convicted of the offence of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, the substantive offence of armed robbery, which was reduced to a lesser offence of robbery. The young accused who looked dejected after the judgment was, however, sentenced to death by hanging for the offence of conspiracy while he got 21 years jail term for each of the other two counts.

Buhari’s eligibility suit suffers setback, adjourned

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned all the suits challenging the eligibility of presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari,till April 22 and 23, 2015.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola fixed the date after he dismissed applications by two intended parties to join the suit as defendants.The judge said the adjournment would affect all the pending suits against Buhari in his court.
